Jason Wager, AICP


Board Member

Jason Wager is a Community and Regional Planner and has been with the Centralina Council of Governments, serving the 9-County Greater Charlotte, North Carolina region, since 1996.  He has diverse experiences working with communities on land use planning and sustainable growth issues that balance economic, environmental, and social opportunities and challenges.  He has been involved in a variety of projects including Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant application and strategy plan preparation, group facilitation and consensus building, community development initiatives, land use plan preparation, ordinance writing/amendments, and site plan reviews of commercial and residential projects.  Additional experience includes: writing grants, consultation on air quality, energy, recreation, solid waste, and water quality regulations and issues.

Jason also serves as Coordinator for the Centralina Clean Fuels Coalition (CCFC), representing the US DOE Clean Cities program in the Greater Charlotte Region.  This voluntary, grassroots network of stakeholders focuses on clean transportation technologies that have as goals the reduction of dependence on petroleum, improving air quality, and providing greater domestic economic opportunities related to energy use in the transportation sector.  The CCFC was officially designated in the national Clean Cities program in October of 2004.  Jason and the CCFC staff assist local governments and other stakeholders with data support, grant writing, project development, and procurement decisions on value-added projects.

Jason holds a Master of Arts degree in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a concentration in urban and regional planning and received his undergraduate degree in Geography from the State University of New York at Geneseo.  Jason is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), has a certificate in Municipal Administration from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government, and is a trained group facilitator.
